MicroCenter Vs. Banggood

Originally, I planned to complete the good/bad website smackdown for two clothing websites: Nike and Shein. I had to choose an alternative website since Shein was already selected, so I turned to two technology websites: Micro Center and Banggood. Banggood is more akin to Temu/AliExpress than a sole technology store like Micro Center, but as I browsed the site, I noticed that most of the items they sell are technology-related.

At first glance, you can 100% tell which website is the good one and the bad one. Banggood is cluttered and hard to navigate, and Microcenter is cleaner and easier to navigate. Even though there are categories on Banggood’s website, the items within those categories are extremely vague, making it difficult to find something you may need. On the other hand, Microcenter has specific categories within its website that allow you to find exactly what you are looking for. As someone who has had an interest in computer building, trying to find parts on Banggood's website would be an extremely tedious task. Microcenter has a PC building feature that lets users find parts and add everything they need to build a system, all on one page. Overall, these two websites make it obvious which one is good and which one is not.

  1. Hi Emily! The websites that you chose are great examples of good and bad websites. On websites that sell many different products, it is crucial to have good organization for customers to navigate, and I like that you emphasized that in your presentation!

Your example about trying to find computer parts really made it easy to understand why navigation and categories matter. I also liked how you pointed out features like the PC building tool, it shows how thoughtful design can make a website much more user-friendly
